Three Reasons Camping Should Be Your Next Vacation

Why should you go camping? That is a very good question and one that many people ask when invited by some of their sometimes over enthusiastic camping-loving friends to spend a weekend or more in the great outdoors. In 2010 alone, roughly 40 million people went camping on about 515 million outings around the world. Camping might not be for everybody, but for many, they might not know what camping can actually do for them, how it can restore their souls in ways that a trip to an amusement park or someplace more conventional might do.

Why go camping? Well, there are many reasons one could give, but consider the many camping resorts and camping amenities that have made this kind of family vacation one that has been popular for decades on end. Family camping trips can be restorative in many ways and tent sites campgrounds are loaded with opportunities for disconnecting with a crazy, hectic world and reconnecting with what is most important to you.

1.) You can literally do nothing.

Though 87% of campers polled said that they participated in multiple activities, that doesn’t have to be the case. On a camping trip, whether you are by yourself or with your family, you have the opportunity to literally do nothing for a weekend or even longer. You find one of any number of tent sites campgrounds, set up your tent and supplies and you can forget about laundry, putting on your best outfit for a night out, doing the grocery shopping or whatever your other chores might be. Camping can be a respite from the addictions we all have to or smartphones, computers, and other electronic devices.

2.) You can employ skills you might not even know you have.

It is pretty remarkable to think that we are capable of so much more than we ever thought we could be. Usually, in our everyday lives, we might employ one or two specific skills at work or at home. We might have been hired at our job because of a few things that we specialize in. When you are camping, however, you often times have to go back to the basics, to the primitive instincts that force you to cook your own food over the fire, to make that fire in the first place. Putting up your tent and preparing your site is work that is a pleasure to do.

3.) It is a great way to spend time with family and close friends.

There is perhaps no other activity that can bring a family closer together than camping. Whether it be an RV campsite or tent sites campgrounds, camping brings family and friends together. Being unplugged for a time and sharing in each other’s company can be some of the most memorable time families can enjoy.

Time goes by so very quickly and if we do not take the time to enjoy it, its will be gone before we know it. Our children will be grown and will have children of their own. When you camp, everyone has to pitch in to make the trip go smoothly; everyone has a purpose and that is a wonderful thing to witness. Make memories now, while you still can, and take your family on the camping trip of their lives. you won’t regret it for a moment.
