Why Camping is No Longer Synonymous With Roughing It

Camping is one of America’s favorite pastimes — more than 43 million Americans went camping just last year. It’s the perfect way to reconnect with family and unplug to get back to nature. The problem is that many of us have become accustomed to living comfortably with cushy beds and indoor plumbing which makes staying somewhere without running water and pillow tops just a little less appealing. The good news is that camping isn’t just taking the bare essentials into the woods and roughing it anymore. Here’s why:

You don’t have to sleep outside
These days there are plenty of different camping accommodations that you can stay in instead of sleeping outdoors. If you own a recreational vehicle, for example, you can turn a road trip into an RV camping trip by parking it at one of the many RV parks in America. Cabins are also a popular choice for people who would prefer not to sleep outside on their camping trip.

‘Glamping’ is a trend
The term ‘glamping’ combines the words glamour and camping to describe camping in luxury. This might involve camping in cabins at well developed camp sites or staying in large open area tents. Typically, there is no need to bring things like tents and cooking supplies since they are already provided.

Campgrounds usually have plenty of amenities
Even campgrounds like RV parks and traditional camp sites have amenities like cooking stations and bathrooms to make camping a more enjoyable and convenient experience. While you can still sleep under the stars if that suits you, you and your family still have the benefits of washing up every day and having a reliable cooking surface.

Camping with your family is a really great way to make sure that everyone is present and has no excuse not to participate in meals and games. These days it can be tough to get the whole family in the same place because of work, school, extracurriculars, and social lives, but camping ensures that you’ll all be together.
